What role do you play at SafeBase?

As the first Information Security Analyst at SafeBase, I had the opportunity to shape my role. I’m happy to say that I get to dabble in a little bit of everything.

  • I own our Security Culture which allows me to educate our team on security best practices.
  • I am a content creator so I get to collab with our unbelievable marketing team. You can find my blogs here.
  • I work with our amazing product team to make contributions to new product features.
  • I have dubbed myself, the “Questionnaire Queen”, as I lend a strong hand in our questionnaire services that we provide to our customers.
  • I oversee our internal compliance efforts.

How did you land at SafeBase?

The power of networking, of course! A comment I made on LinkedIn last year was seen by a leader in security for nearly 20 years. He offered me the opportunity to work with his team and learn everything I possibly could. Towards the end of my internship, he connected me with one of his previous coworkers who was working for a tech startup. They were looking for a new grad to fill the position and thought it would be a perfect opportunity for me. He was right! After meeting with the founders and original team at SafeBase, I knew that I was going to take the offer. I am so grateful to be a part of a team where the energy and passion are undeniable!

Who on the team inspires you the most?

I have to say that I live vicariously through Orel and his global adventures. Every month he lives in a different part of the world. He values relationships and experience above all else and that’s something that I really admire about him. And when it comes to work…he’s AMAZING at what he does. His positive attitude and goal-driven spirit make him an absolute pleasure to work with. But most of all he always makes sure everyone is heard. No matter what he’ll always make time for you. And that speaks volumes.

What resonates with you the most about our company culture?

The culture that has been created from the very start is truly taught and lived by each one of us. This is where our work ethic and who we are as people come together. Our diverse backgrounds, both professionally and personally, are what make our team as strong as we are.

Being a remote-first company, how do you connect with your colleagues?

SafeBase is constantly offering ways for us to connect with one another. One of my all-time favorites was meeting everyone in Miami at the company retreat in August. But on a day-to-day basis, we are constantly communicating on Slack and Tandem. Setting channels for non-work-related convos is key to the personal connections we make as a team. And of course, our games! Every month we play games to let loose and have a little fun with our competitive side.

What have you learned about security since working at SafeBase?

I've learned that people DO care about security. At SafeBase, security doesn’t solely exist in the InfoSec department. It’s fun to see everyone participate and get involved with Cybersecurity news and they love celebrating when they don’t fall victim to a phishing email.

How do you enjoy your free time?

Family is number one for me. Everyone knows that when I’m not working, I’m on mom duty and I love it! Wouldn’t want it any other way. We love the beach and of course, our ice cream dates.

What excites you most about the future of SafeBase?

The real question should be, what is there NOT to be excited about? What excites me most is seeing organizations adopt transparency as a norm. We have the team to make SafeBase the standard in security transparency.
